In the Middle East you’ll find the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the Asian continent. It’s a young country, only existing since 1975. The population has grown from about 500.000 people then, to 10 million now.
The growth of the UAE is not only told by the number of people who live there. And the number of businesses, buildings and even entire cities that have popped up here over the last decades is nothing short of impressive.
The UAE is a federation made up out of seven emirates. They are Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Umm Al Quwain and Ajman. The smallest of these emirates is Ajman and the largest emirate is Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi is the capital of the United Arab Emirates. Every emirate has its own royal family that rules over it. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan is credited for bringing all seven emirates together into one country. For that reason he is known as the Father of the Nation.
At the height of 828 meters, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai is the tallest building in the world. In addition to that it’s also got the highest number of stories and the most towering elevator service.
