We visited the Angkor Temples twice. The first time we bought the tickets from the Angkor Park Pass Ticket Counters. But the second time we bought them online via Angkor Enterprise. There are also self service ticket machines and an app available to buy your Angkor Wat Pass from.

In this step by step guide: how to buy an Angkor Pass, I’ll share all you need to know about buying an Angkor Pass for your family trip to the Angkor Temples in Siem Reap. At the end of the post you know where and how to buy your pass to make the process easy for you.

Why buy an Angkor Pass?

If you’re visiting Siem Reap with kids and you want to check out Angkor Wat or other Angkor temples you need a ticket. Kids under 12 years are free to enter if they bring their passport, but all foreigners are required to purchase a ticket.

There are checkpoints at most of the temples, but there are also guards roaming around the area that can ask for your ticket at any time. So guard your tickets with your life, because if you can’t show your ticket at the checkpoints they’ll tell you to buy one first.

And if you are exploring a temple and a guard asks for your tickets and you can’t show them you will receive a fine between €75 and €250 per person. But it’s much better than +10 years ago when they were allowed to arrest you.

Foreigners with a residence visa that is at least valid for 2 years can get an Angkor Special Pass and enter for free when they show their visa in their passport.

The towering stone faces of Bayon Temple in Angkor Thom, Cambodia, bask in the afternoon sunlight. The intricate carvings and serene expressions showcase the temple's historic and artistic significance.

What is an Angkor Pass?

With an Angkor Pass you can enter and explore different Angkor Temples, like Bayon, Ta Prohm and of course Angkor Wat and lots of other temples. Exploring some of the temples of Angkor is one the best things to do in Siem Reap with your family.

There are different passes available for the Ben Mealea Temple, Kbal Spean or you get access to 10 temples with the Koh Ker Temples Park Pass. The most popular pass is the Angkor Temples Park Pass, aka the Angkor Pass. Buying an Angkor Pass gives you access to 50 temples.

Latest Angkor Ticket Prices 2025

Here are the ticket prices for 2025. Note that all tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Angkor Temples Park Pass

The Angkor Temples Park Pass is the most popular one that gives you access to all the famous Angkor Temples like Angkor Wat, Ta Prohm and Bayon and more than 45 other temples of Angkor. This is the pass we recommend when you want to visit the top temples of Angkor with kids.

The Angkor Temples Pass costs:

  • $37 for 1 day
  • $62 for 3 days
  • $72 for 7 days

Note that tickets issued after 4.45 PM are valid only for the next day. There are people who checked out the sunset at Angkor Wat with a ticket bought late in the day, but our family hasn’t tried that out before, so I don’t know if they were lucky or if it’s actually allowed.

Koh Ker Temples Park Pass

The Koh Ker Pass gives you access to all 10 Angkor Temples in Preah Vihear, like Koh Ker itself and Banteay Pir Choan. There’s only a 1 day pass available for $15.

Beng Mealea Temple Pass

To explore the temple of Beng Mealea you need to buy a separate ticket for $10

Kbal Spean Temple Pass

A ticket to the temple of Kbal Spean costs $5.

Angkor Pass for kids

Children under 12 years old do not need to buy a ticket. They do have to bring their passport to all the temples of Angkor to prove their age. Kids over 12 pay adult prices.

Angkor Pass for the elderly

Traveling with your parents or other elderly? Unfortunately there is no such thing as an Angkor Elderly Pass or any other type of discount.

How to buy Angkor Tickets

There are 4 ways to buy tickets to the Angkor Temples:

  • At the Angkor Park Pass Ticket counters in Siem Reap
  • From the official government website Angkor Enterprise
  • Via the official government app Angkor Pass
  • At the Angkor Wat Pass self service ticket machines

So let’s get into all 4 of them to help you decide which option is the best for your family. No matter what option you choose: all prices are the same!

Buying Angkor tickets at the Angkor Ticket Office

The first option is the old school option. You go to the only official ticket office on the corner of Road 60 and the Apsara Road.

The Angkor Ticket Centre is also known as Angkor Enterprise. Angkor Enterprise is operated by the Apsara Authority. This is the government agency responsible for the management and conservation of the Angkor Archaeological Park.

The ticket office is open 7 days a week all year round from 5.00 AM to 5.30 PM. So, no matter the holiday, you can get a ticket.

Stand in line and buy your 1,3 or 7 day tickets here. You can pay by cash and from halfway through 2024 you can also pay with a credit card.

They will ask you to stand in front of a camera and take your picture. This picture will be printed on your ticket.

When buying an Angkor Pass here you can also purchase a special holder to protect it and hang it around your neck, if you like.

Buying Angkor Tickets online – skip the lines!

Skip the lines, grab your pass and start your adventure! The second option I’d like to tell you more about is to how to buy an Angkor Pass online.

Angkor Enterprise sells the 1,3 and 7 day passes on their website, as well as the Koh Ker Temples pass and the separate tickets for the Beng Mealea temple and the Kbal Spean temple.

I do find it weird that you have to make an account, but I do prefer buying them online from Angkor Enterprise, because they’re an official source. We didn’t have to think about anything anymore, we could immediately start exploring the temples the minute we got to Siem Reap.

When you buy online, your pass comes with a QR code, which you’ll need to show at the entrance. Just make sure to purchase it from the official website, as third-party sellers are not authorized and might charge extra or sell invalid passes.

There have been incidents with officers asking for a printed copy and they didn’t allow people in with the QR code. Bring copies of your tickets to be sure they’ll let you in.

Buying tickets via the Angkor Pass app – skip the lines!

Download the Angkor Pass app from the Google Play or Apple Store. If you use the app you’re not required to create an account, you can also log in as a guest. Which I really like.

You won’t get an email with tickets, but you can show your digital tickets in the app at all checkpoints and to every officer.

Buying tickets at self-service Angkor Pass kiosks

The last option is very new. At the end of 2024 new self-service ticket machines were installed at Siem Reap’s Heritage Walk mall. Bring your passport to buy the pass from the machine.

The machine is able to take your picture, so the Angkor Pass that’s printed out looks exactly the same as the ones you buy at the official ticket office.

At the time of writing you could only get the standard Angkor Pass (access to 50 temples in Siem Reap) from the machines. But maybe that’ll change in time.

This is the first automated ticketing system that’s maintained by Angkor Enterprise. They operate from 8.00 AM to 9.00 PM daily. Plans are underway to install additional machines throughout Siem Reap.

Rules & Regulations of the Angkor Tickets

There are entrance ticket regulations. Like the fact that tickets issued after 4:45pm are valid for the next day. That there’s a dress code you should followAnd that all purchases should be made at the Ticket Centers. Check out all rules & regulations on Angkor Enterprise, a site from the Cambodian government.

Opening Hours

Most of the temples are open from 7.30 AM to 5.30 PM. Angkor Wat, Phnom Bakheng (aka Bakheng Temple) and Srah Srang open at 5 AM so you can enjoy the sunrise at the temples.

Want to enjoy the sunset from one of the temples? Phnom Bakheng, Ta Keo and Pre Rup are open until 7 PM.

FAQ – How to buy an Angkor Pass: Step-by-Step Guide to buying your Angkor Wat entrance ticket

How much is an Angkor Wat ticket?

There isn’t a separate ticket just for Angkor Wat—you’ll need to buy an Angkor Pass, which grants access to multiple temples in the Angkor Archaeological Park.

How much is an Angkor Pass?

The Angkor Pass comes in three pricing tiers: $37 for 1 day, $62 for 3 days and $72 for 7 days. Prices are set by the Cambodian government, and proceeds go towards conservation efforts and local communities.

What is an Angkor Pass?

The Angkor Pass is your golden ticket to exploring the temples of Angkor! It’s an official entry pass required to visit Angkor Wat and the surrounding temples in the Angkor Archaeological Park. This pass is issued with your photo (so no sneaky pass-sharing!) and must be shown at checkpoints when entering different temple sites.

Can you buy an Angkor Pass online?

Yes, you can! The official Angkor Enterprise website allows you to purchase your Angkor Pass online before you arrive. Or you can buy them from the Angkor Pass app. This is super handy if you want to skip the hassle of lining up at the ticket office.

Is it better to buy a ticket for Angkor Wat online or in person?

Buying online or via the app is definitely the most convenient option—it saves time and avoids queues at the ticket office, especially during peak season. Plus, you can sort everything out before you even land in Cambodia. That said, if you want to buy your pass last minute, you can still get it in person at the Angkor Ticket Office in Siem Reap or from the ticket machines at the Heritage Walk Mall in Siem Reap.

What happens if I lose my Angkor Pass?

Losing your Angkor Pass means you need to buy a new one! The pass is strictly personal and comes with your photo printed on it, so there’s no way to get a replacement if it goes missing.

What temples are included in the Angkor Pass?

The Angkor Pass gives you access to 50 temples in the Angkor Archaeological Park, including Angkor Wat, Bayon, Ta Prohm and Banteay Srei. However, it does NOT cover Beng Mealea, Kbal Spean, Koh Ker, or Phnom Kulen—those require separate tickets.

What are the temples of Angkor opening hours?

Most of the temples in the Angkor Archaeological Park are open from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM. But Angkor Wat, Phnom Bakheng and Srah Srang open at 5 AM. Phnom Bakheng, Ta Keo and Pre Rup are open until 7 PM.

Is Angkor Wat open on Christmas?

Yes! Angkor Wat and the entire Angkor Archaeological Park are open every single day of the year, including Christmas and New Year's Day.

Can I visit Angkor on non-consecutive days?

Yes, but only if you purchase a 3-day or 7-day pass. These passes allow flexibility, meaning you don’t have to use them on consecutive days. For example, with a 3-day pass, you can visit on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday within a 10-day period. Likewise, a 7-day pass can be used on any seven days within a month.

Are Angkor tickets refundable or transferable?

Nope—once you buy an Angkor Pass, it’s non-refundable and non-transferable. The pass has your photo printed on it, so it can’t be shared or resold. If your plans change and you can't use your ticket, unfortunately, you won’t get a refund. That’s why it's best to choose the pass that fits your itinerary before purchasing.

Do I need my passport to enter the temples of Angkor?

Adults don’t need a passport to enter the temples of Angkor, but do need it when purchasing your Angkor Pass (especially if buying in person). The ticket office staff may ask for it to confirm your identity. Kids under 12 and foreigners who have a residence visa of a minimum of 2 years do need to bring their passports to the temples. They can enter for free, but do need to show either their age or visa to prove they can enter for free.

How much is the entrance to Koh Ker temples?

To check out the 10 temples of Koh Ker you need a separate ticket from the Angkor Pass. The entrance fee is $15 per person.

Can you see Angkor Wat without paying?

You can see the outside of Angkor Wat without paying. And at sunset you’ll see lots of people sitting on the grass facing the entrance of Angkor Wat to enjoy the sunset for free. But if you want to check out the Angkor Wat temple complexes you need to buy an Angkor Pass.

Final Thoughts: How to buy an Angkor Pass

That was it for this step-by-step guide on buying an Angkor Pass. Now you have all the info you need and you can decide if you want to buy Angkor tickets in person from the official ticket office or the vending machines. Or if you go for the fast digital option and buy your Angkor Pass from the official website or app.

No matter what you choose I know you will have an amazing time exploring Angkor Wat and all the other amazing temples of Angkor with your kids!
